It's been nice and quiet so far this week. Mommy and I have settled into Grandpa and Granny's house and haven't had much of anything to do for a few days except play and nap. Yesterday we did take my first trip into a bank AND a post office - a big day for me. Mommy took me by to visit Aunt Jody at her bank (while Mommy got the money order to pay her speeding ticket) and we shipped a few packages that have been riding around in Mommy's car since around the time I was born.

Aunt Jody, Uncle Shane, Tyler and Kalyn came by to see us last night. We had a good time. Uncle Shane said that he now remembers how tiring it is to hold a baby all the time - his arm was getting sore from holding me!

I showed Mommy my new trick this morning and held my head up while laying on my back. Very exciting.

After breakfast and before he left for work, Grandpa and I played bouncy in his chair.

I'm starting to figure these fingers out. Granny watched me put my thumb in my mouth for about 30 seconds the other day; I got so excited about it that I flung my arms out and couldn't figure out where the thumb went. For now, my finger will have to do.

It's been a very busy week!

On Tuesday the first wave of movers came. They took all of the stuff that should meet us in Germany. Mommy and Daddy packed things like air mattresses, folding tables and, of course, my crib. A friend told them to pretend they were camping when they packed for this part, so they did.

On Wednesday another set of movers came and took all of the stuff that's going to stay in the United States the whole time we are gone. It was mostly books, but they did leave the aquarium (something about the pesky electricity sources not being the same, so anything that needs to plug in pretty much got left behind).

I enjoyed my last night with my favorite swing. Since Mommy thinks that I'll be too big for it by the time we get to Germany, she gave it to a friend that's having a baby at the end of the summer. You'll note that I enjoyed the swing, but have already started pouting about having to share my things.

On Thursday the real chaos began. The packers showed up and started putting everything we own into boxes. It was very loud in the house with all the paper ripping and being crinkled for padding. Daddy and I slipped away for a few minutes so that I could eat quietly in my room - since most things were packed, he had to sit on top of the dresser while I ate.

I tried to take a nap in my old room (key word here is tried, there was way too much excitement to actually sleep!)

In the afternoon, Daddy and I went outside to get away from it all and enjoy a little sunshine. The neighbors cat joined us. We moved into a room on base that night since all our stuff was in boxes.

On Friday the same packers came back, but this time they took all the boxes out to put them in crates. Mommy and I were able to sit on the couch for a while until they took it away.

Daddy and I sat in the car and listened to the radio. (Daddy wants everyone to know that the car was off and that he was not driving me around like Britney Spears).

That same day I showed Mommy my new trick and held a toy in my hand for several minutes - I even waved it around for a while.

On Saturday, we all came back down to clean the outside of the house for final inspection. I ate my last meal in my first house that day.

On Sunday we sat around and did very little for the first time since I was born. We all enjoyed it very much. I had a good time playing all day without interruption for silly chores.

This morning we went back to the house one last time for the final inspection. I went and played with the neighbors while Mommy and Daddy dealt with the inspector. Luckily, they passed the first time with no problems! After that we said goodbye to the old house and to Daddy because he had to go back to work and Mommy and I were leaving for Los Alamos to spend the rest of the week with Grandpa and Granny.

Mommy and I spent a few hours with the neighbors for one last time before we left. We said "goodbye for now" to them since they'll be our neighbors in Europe too - they're going to Italy a few months after we leave for Germany! Ms. Diane was actually in the operating room when I was born; she was a very good friend to Mommy, so we'll definitely all be seeing each other again.

We made it safely to Grandpa and Granny's house (even with Mommy getting a speeding ticket on the way, we were just too excited to get here!!) Granny and I made brownies while Mommy unloaded the car and got everything set up for us for the night. I've spent the evening hanigng out with Grandpa - definitely one of my favorite activities!

I had a WONDERFUL weekend. My Nanna came down on Friday and spent the weekend playing and napping with me while Mommy packed on Friday and Mommy and Daddy had a yard sale and cleaned the outside of the house on Saturday. It helped Mommy and Daddy tremendously. For the first time in a while, Mommy actually looks calm about the move.

Today was the big day - I had my two month checkup, which means that I got my first set of shots. I started off the day completely unsuspecting (Mommy kept telling me it was coming, but for some reason I didn't remember).

When we got there I had to be completely naked to be weighed. I peed on Daddy just for good measure (ok, he was actually holding me far enough out that I missed him, but that didn't stop me from trying). Mommy says that I have to include the weighing picture just for future blackmail purposes (for those that are tracking such things, I weigh 9.3lbs and am 20.75 inches long - absolutely perfect on the chart).

We had fun waiting for the shot part of the appointment - I got some good Daddy time in since he forgave me for trying to pee on him.

Then there were the actual shots - not nearly so fun. I actually didn't do that badly, I mostly just lost my temper that Mommy wouldn't pick me back up (and no, Mommy's not holding me down, she's just holding my hands). I calmed down again quickly and went back to being my happy self again in just a few minutes.

Mommy says that I have to take a break from blogging for a few days at the very least. The movers start coming tomorrow and we won't have a computer. For the next few months I'll only be able to blog when people lend me a computer or an internet connection (since I'm already smart enough to use the laptop) - so Mommy wants everyone to excuse any tardiness on my part, but when I get a chance, I'll definitely update.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!!

I had my first real babysitter yesterday. Luckily for Mommy I just went next door for a few hours, so it wasn't SO traumatic. I had a good time with Ms. Alex - she said that I mostly slept.

Nanna's on her way over to play with me today. I just talked to her on the phone and was all smiles afterward - I know who Mommy's talking to and what fun that means!!

What an exciting day (for Mommy and Daddy at least)! I slept through the night for the first time (I slept from 9:30pm to 5am - amazing)!! Of course, Mommy and Daddy are fully aware that this is probably a fluke and won't happen again for a while, but they definitely enjoyed it.

Notice my pretty ballerina shoes - Mommy's friend Darci gave those to me and I look mighty cute in them! Ms. Kirsten came by on Tuesday to hold me while Mommy did some more packing and she made me put the shoes back on just so that she could take pictures of my feet!

Mommy couldn't resist this outfit. Yes, they really are shorts, but that just gives me lots of room to grow into them. The best part is that it has a label on it that says "Pirate" - in honor of Daddy's adventures as a pirate all those years ago.

Of course, the requisite nap shot (you'd think I wouldn't take a nap after all that sleep!)

Whew!

On Friday morning Mommy ran around like crazy to get us all ready to go. It's amazing how much "luggage" three cats and a baby can generate. To my credit, the cats took up more space in the car than my stuff did. Also, the cats definitely cried more than I did - I travelled to Los Alamos very well. We dropped by Nanna's house and dropped off (and bathed) the cats to stay for the next few months. It was already past my bed time, so we quickly headed for Los Alamos to stay with Grandpa and Granny. I changed into my pajamas and quickly settled in on Grandpa.

Grandpa bought me some lovely socks that say "born to golf" - you can't quite read them in the picture, but I'm wearing them. He also bought me a baby golf DVD - I think we're aiming for me to the next Michelle Wie or Tiger Woods - or at least to enjoy roaming the golf course with Grandpa for a few hours every Saturday. I hung out with Grandpa for a few minutes on Saturday morning then he and Daddy went to play golf in the wind and snow (Mommy wouldn't let me go along).

Mommy and I went out to lunch with her friend Darci then we came home so that I could play with Granny. Since Granny sings in lots of choirs she practiced on me (and she and Mommy tried to remember childrens songs too)

That night, Grandpa and I both took a HUGE nap together. I really like coming to visit Grandpa - we get to sleep a lot! Of course, since I'd slept on Grandpa all evening, I wanted to stay up all night. Mommy, Daddy and I are in discussions about this habit - they think I should sleep at night INSTEAD.

The next morning I got to see my first real snow!! We spent a lot of time looking at it from inside. But, alas, we finally had to leave to head to Nanna's house, so I had to head outside into the cold.

At Nanna's house Mommy and Daddy visited with Nanna and Frank and checked on the cats (which seem to be doing fine so far). Nanna's cat, Merlin, didn't like the fact that Nanna was holding someone else besides the cat.

Of course, we headed home soon after that. Mommy's taking me to work with her today to wrap up her last day in the actual office before we leave for Germany. After that she'll have to work from the computer. This is our last full week in the house. The furniture starts leaving a week from tomorrow - Mommy's starting to look a little panicked and isn't sure that she's ready. I keep trying to get her to just relax and take a nap with me....

It's been a very busy week for me. My Grandma-Moo stayed all week to visit. We spent a lot of time contemplating each other - it was wonderful!

I obviously preferred the company of Grandma-Moo to Mommy....

On Friday afternoon I went to see my favorite Pediatrician, Dr. Guzman. Mommy and Daddy were concerned that I wasn't gaining enough weight. I weighed 8lbs 3ozs and Dr. Guzman said that I was perfect! I do have an umbilical hernia, but from what Mommy says, that will probably heal itself in a few years.

After the doctor, Nanna showed up. We all went out to dinner together. I was very well behaved, if I may say so myself.

On Saturday morning Daddy took Grandma-Moo to the Lubbock airport while Mommy and I stayed home to visit with Nanna.

Actually, Nanna played with me all day while Mommy started pulling the house apart to move. Even though she and Daddy are very excited that we're moving to Germany, Mommy was still sad to start the packing process - she and Daddy have lived here for 3 years; they really like their little house and have made many good friends along the way. Also, Mommy is finding this move much harder - I can't imagine why, I'm so little, how can I make things more complicated?

Marilyn (Grandpa Frank's sister) also came by to see me on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday we had to go back to it just being the 3 of us again. Since I'd become so used to sleeping on one Grandma or another all week, Daddy let me sleep on him on Sunday afternoon while we watched the basketball game.

Yesterday we went to Mommy's doctor (she was given a clean bill of health - this was her post-op appointment), to Mommy's old office to visit and out to lunch with Ms. Elizabeth - another busy day. Today is the first day "back to normal" and I'm trying to remember how to take a nap all by myself. It's very difficult. I'm starting to sit up more and I'm really liking looking around at everything. My new favorite position is "sitting" in Mommy's arms looking out or laying and looking over anyone's shoulders.

This week we're going to pack some more and then on Friday we'll take the cats to Nanna's house to stay while we go on our grand adventure. I'll let you know how that goes!

I got to meet my Grandma-Moo yesterday. She arrived right on time. Of course, it was love at first sight - we had to sit right down in the airport and share a moment right away!

So, here's what my Grandma-Moo thinks of me. I'm a princess and she knows it! She even brought me the crown to prove it...

Roy sent me a bunny too - we had fun playing with it.

It was so warm today (80+ - sorry to those that live in temperature challenged environments) that I wore my first sun-dress all day - with no socks!! Overall, a very good day.
